Since vocal support is gonna be a thing, maybe also ultrastar format could. Be supported. Or other karaoke game formats as well.

They could simply leverage my lyric converter if they wanted to get such formats into an already supported format like MIDI.

Hey guys. So I'm in the middle of charting drums for a song and I discovered an issue between EOF and Phase Shift. When marking the blue note as a "blue cymbal" it doesn't translate in Phase Shift, it remains a regular blue note (tom). I looked into this and I guess it happens when you have 5-lane drums enabled, which I do. I am hoping the devs address this bug or whatever it may be for the Steam release.

When I create a drum chart, enable five lane drums, author blue toms and blue cymbals, save the project and have EOF import the MIDI, both drum note types import correctly. If you can reproduce the same correct result importing the MIDI in EOF, the issue is likely to be with Phase Shift.

As far as I know that’s not really a bug, when you enable 5 lane drums, the yellow and blue toms and cymbal becomes one so you can still play the original chart (7 lanes) with all the notes. I play using the GH drums and this happens with me too.

Been following Phase Shift for years, can't wait for vocals support! I saw the steam page and saw that the UI was changed, but I personally think that the old UI looked better. But that's probably a work in progress.

the visual side is something that will require ongoing work, nothing is ever final, bigger changes are always tricky, but for now we are just working on our initial pass to get where we need to be to release, we can then look to refine what we have
right now this is a bit of an experimental stage and we are going to be mixing things up a bit, this is a necessary step, during this stage we are looking to establish a more distinct look for the game, something we can really call own and move away from the more generic music game look, we hope people will enjoy what we are looking to do as I think there are going to be some interesting things to try, and as always we'll keep everything as flexible as possible if people want to play around with customisation
we could always look at opening up theme refinements to a more community driven approach, if people come up with something awesome, maybe we build it into the default theme etc

i love to have a feature where you can rename midi parts not on the midi them self but ingame like i could set in ini
part_name = "replacement name"
rhythhm_name = "banjo" guitar_name = "acoustic guitar" drums_name = "spoons"
that way i can chat other instrumental for a more real feel that they belong i have some country songs that have acoustic guitar and banjo and thats it be nice if i could rename rhythhm to banjo it be the same setup in the midi its just the name of part will beable to be overridden in the menus

Great to see development is going to get picked up again. Wishlisted it on steam. Hope it gets lots of interest.
One feature I always wished for, was that if you slow a song down (or up I guess) there would be no pitch change. Which makes it more bearable to practise songs slowly. Youtube and VLC do this when slowing down or up and it makes it listenable to a certain point (very slow it gets iffy though). There are probably already existing algos/moduls for this kinda stuff. I suppose they achieve that by inserting tiny pauses instead of just playing it back slower like a tape recorder would.

Will there be support for linux? If it will, I'd certainly buy it.
If not, maybe you could open source the previous version so I could try to build it in linux.

Linux gaming market share = peanuts. Android gaming market share = massive. You could argue SteamOS but that thing suffered from SIDs/stillborn so IDK.
There is no market for 'linux' games unfortunately.

Fcking awesome. Real instrument features (drums especially) have all my support. So excited to see Phase Shift on Steam and things moving forward.
