Hello, I'm new around here and I've decided to give Phase Shift a shot after renewing my interests in music games like Rock Band and Elite Beat Agents. I have both the Fender Precision Bass on X-Box 360 (reference), which is similar in design to the standard Rock Band guitar. This is a wireless guitar I have connected via my X-Box 360 controller adapter (reference). It seems Phase Shift cannot properly support this instrument, so I looked at other forum posts and found one where I followed the instructions (here) and used the program, PSCtrl. I think I set it up properly as according to the instructions, so here is the text file to be looked at. Also, my friend has a wired Guitar Hero 2 Guitar on X-Box 360, and I have a Rock Band 3 keyboard which I'd like to use as a guitar (though I'm confused as to how to set it's game file), and I am currently looking into getting a X-Box 360 drum set. However, I still have a couple of PS3 Rock Band wireless guitars (with the adapters), along with a wireless PS3 Rock Band drum set. Do those work well with this game? I know it seems like I'm asking a bunch of questions, but better to play it safe then to mess it up, unsure of how it works. Attachments:

If you wanna test if your controller is properly set up, copy the content of the file PSCtrl generated, then open the file DL.ini and and paste it at the bottom, save and run the game the controller should work now.
about the keyboard i cant help... but the PS3 guitars/drums should work just by pluging them in and pressing a button in the game.

When you say "It seems Phase Shift cannot properly support this instrument", what do you mean exactly? All Xbox 360 Controllers should work out of the box. What happens when you try and use the controller ingame?
Thanks David

jd2504, I had done as you said. Gone into the settings folder, opened up DL.ini in notepad, and added the content of the notepad file the PSCtrl generated for me. While it is able to detect my Bass controller, none of the buttons work for it. I still cannot use it. I did reuse PSCtrl and followed the same instructions, replace the content I added in the DL folder with the new one, and still no luck.
david, Unfortunately, it did not work immediately out of the box. Just to make sure my adapter was working property, I used my wireless X-Box 360 controller, and it works fine as it is able to detect all of the inputs on it, so we can rule out any problems with the adapter itself.

This doesn't have to be a college paper in MLA or Chicago format... it's just a forum But, thank you for doing research ahead of time, and for a very CLEAR report of your problem.

OK, maybe there is something different about this one as it's quite advanced. In the game folder there is an application "button_data.exe". What I need you to do is run it and make a note of which events are triggered but each button press.
This will give me an idea of how the controller works and allow me to add support for it.
Thanks David

vandorb12, haha well I'm trying to be as precise as I can. It's better to make an effort to describe how things went then to keep it vague to confuse things. XD Also, don't get me started on MLA ._. Anyway, david, I ran the program and made note of all the functions I've utilized. I documented in this note pad and described what I did if you'd like to look at it. Thanks. Attachments:

OK, looking at the data you sent it seems like the controller is using all the correct values that I'd expect and PS is currently supporting. So lets back up a bit. Do any buttons work at all by default when you load the game? If so which ones? Second can you post the game_log.txt from the game folder from after you've run the game and attempted to press some buttons.
Thanks David

When I pressed the green button on the Bass controller (haven't tried any other buttons prior to this), the profile tab showing as "Guest" kicks in. Despite the sign in, none of the buttons function (regular and solo colored buttons, whammy knob, etc). After trying all the buttons, I got on the keyboard, hitting enter, which spawned another "Guest" tab, hit down a few times to go to Quit, and hit 1 to leave. With that done, here's the game log file attached. Attachments:

The log don't show that anythig other than the keyboard was detected.
When you hit green on the controller and the guest profile appears. which instrument has it linked to it? does it have a guitar GFX?
Thanks David

That might be it. The logo in the Guest tab is a bright bar, but it looks exactly the same when I used the keyboard for that. So I'm assuming that the game recognizes the Bass controller as if it's a keyboard and not a guitar at all.

Bright bar?, can you post a screenshot?
Thanks DAvid

Sorry for the late response. As soon as I print-screen, the game logs in my keyboard. I got a screen cap of that, but the screen cap I attached is the one where I then hit the green button on the bass. Both of the icons are exactly the same. Attachments:
