I'm not sure exactly how the trainers work so I'll need to look into that at some point. But in regards to the sections, you can pick the start and end points. It's not shown on that video but the first click select the start section and the second the end section. If you want to extend the section or tweek it you can just alter the A-B markers manually. So far it seems to work quite nice but in later versions we may add more advanced features. One idea is to be able to save A-B points for quick access. Also a step option which will click to the next notes only when they have been formed correctly. So you can make sure you've formed the correct chords in Real guitar modes. David Trainers in Rock Band are written rhythm/note patterns that are short and are looped continuously to "train" a player. You can adjust the speed from 50% to full speed (100%) in set intervals. If you would like, I'll upload a video demo of me playing one of the trainers in RB3 on YouTube. I can do the same for Pro Guitar Trainers. EDIT:

This looks promising. Currently I'm working on someway to create a trainer for drumpatterns and fills using the possibilities PS offers at the moment. I've created simple songs in a music programme and made the corresponding patterns in EOF. Creating the songs at 100 BPM means 150% speed in training mode equals 150 BPM. Adding solo sections also lets me kmow how accurate I'm playing. The 'songs' are about 3 minutes now to be able to play the beats for awhile, looping would make life much easier!
If anyone is interested I can share some of my work. This should be possible for guitar riffs etc. too...

Regarding the trainer sections, there are two different kinds:
1. When the end of the trainer is reached, playback is stopped momentarily before it starts again, giving the player time to get ready. This would be appropriate for something like a solo. 2. When the end of the trainer is reached, it loops back to the beginning seamlessly without disrupting the fluidity of the chart. This would be appropriate for riffs that repeat throughout the song.
The only real difference between these two is that the looping kind has a "[pg_norm song_trainer_pg_#]" (or pb_norm for pro bass) text event somewhere between the defined start and stop position of the trainer.

Having a seamless loop isn't possible right now. I need t re-write a fair ammount of code to make that happen. It's something I'd like to do but isn't gonna be done anytime soon.

Oh well. A start->stop loop is still pretty nice to have.

I've uploaded some songs/patterns like the ones in the RB trainer, actually it's the first 5 patterns from RB2 and some more stuff. Some additional meters and easy selection of patterns within the practice section and voila! www.mediafire.com/?0y2k87sfv5n0r38The thing is the songs recognize certain sections as solos in earlier versions of PS (93) but the solos don't display in the 99b? If anyone is intererested in this kind of patterns I will upload more.

I guess that would work. The current way of looping with the pause between loops should be eliminated to make it work really well.
As drumming is concerned, I think this could really help a drummers speed, coordination and rhythm in- and outside the game, which is in line with the expanding pro drum modes.

If the delay during looping was an issue, it could be lessened by having the pattern repeat several times in the chart (maybe even several minutes if desired) before stopping and doing another drum pattern.
