I clicked ignore when I did the install. The file that it wants to write is not necessary for the game to run.

By pop102from what I've gathered it seems like some kind of permission issue... don't know why it only blocks that one file.. try installing it to your desktop.

Based on nothing but the error, I'm going to assume Windows Vista/7, in which case User Account Control could be restricting write permission to the Program Files directory. If you right click on the installer program and select "Run as administrator" (answering yes to the prompt to allow it to make changes to the computer, ie. have write access to the Program Files directory), let us know if the problem goes away, or as suggested, extract to a location that isn't restricted by UAC such as the Desktop.

I can confirm this. The installer did not let me install in Program files, but it did in my desktop. I redid the install, and now its in program files. I hope the next version will help fix the UAC problem for other user's sake. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 only fix is to make the installer ask for higher higher elevation at start, I've never coded an installer before, but I'm guessing its probably a simple fix

I've been looking into this and it does seem that all I can do is make a message box explaining that you need higher permissions. My understanding of windows security isn't great so if anyone has a way to bypass this then let me know. I do know that some apps will install into the "Appdata" folder instead but I'm not 100% sure if thats for a different reason.
Thanks David

The file that it wants to write is not necessary for the game to run. are you saying it is only that 1 button data file that refuses to install and everything else works if you ignore it? if this is the case then this isn't really an issue as that does not need to be part of the installer so if anyone can confirm this...

it does seem to be that one file, 7 and vista, seem to see that file as a possible security threat, could possibly windows sees it as a keylogger. I think that if you just remove the file from the installer it would be fine. EDIT and adding giving the installer the ability to request higher elevation at start would help eliminate all kinds of issues with vista/7's UAC. EDIT 2 I've been looking into this and it does seem that all I can do is make a message box explaining that you need higher permissions. My understanding of windows security isn't great so if anyone has a way to bypass this then let me know. I do know that some apps will install into the "Appdata" folder instead but I'm not 100% sure if thats for a different reason. Thanks David I'm pretty sure appdata is just as protected as program files, plus it's a hidden folder by default, so it would confuse tons of less computer savvy users. Don't recommend that.

see that same shit happened to me at least my proof is in vid form Stop that! you know what, next time, before you make a post think to yourself "does this contribute anything" if it doesn't, then dont post it.. especially in a bug report comments like what you just made do not contribute anything and just clutter the topic up.
