Thinking that it would be super nice to have the game load a random background image for the stage when users have the background type set to 2D. Granted you would need more then one image in the folder to make this possible, but might make theme making just a little bit more creative and the game a bit more interactive.
Perhaps even instead of a random background image on song load. A random image that fades to another on a random timer? Though this idea sounds a bit more complicated.
I don't know how to program at all so I can't help on that end. But hope you consider this!

this has been suggested before, and was accepted, I would like to add to this suggestion though, random video backgrounds would be pretty cool too (using the same concept as mentioned above)

Ah great. Guess all the digging trough the suggestions I somehow missed that it was already suggested. And yes, that would be pretty nice for the video backgrounds! Which I still have to get any of them, always use the 2D abstract.

lol the videos give a much better experience, and I dont believe they use any more resources then the 2d abstract

I might have to check some of the ones you have provided. I used the default one that is packaged with Phase Shift but I don't use it. Playing on a 1080P LCD TV, you notice the lower quality very well. Unfortunately I would expect your to also be lower quality. In any case it still might be neat to change it up.
Too bad I have no idea how to do video editing with special effects like that, so I wouldn't be able to create HD versions.
I really shouldn't be too worried about quality though, my TV is junky, may only be about a year and a half old but still is bad quality. (LG 32LD550 32" 120Hz LCD). Poor image quality, and even noticeable when watching Blu-Ray. I will never buy LG again!

the ones i upload are usually 720x480, at a bitrate of about 1mb, thats the settings that most common computers should beable to handle smoothly, if you want a higher resolution/higher bitrate version of one, let me know and I'll make a higher quality version of them. (seriously, it only takes 2 minutes or so to convert therm so its no real hassle on my end )

That would be awesome, when I get a chance I will have to look at which ones I like the most. Only issue is the file size when you encode them at 1080P resolutions. Would you happen to know the file size on average? Cheers, Slayer

well, i havent converted any to 1080p, but for 720 they are about 5-10 mb's ranging on the video length, so an guess on 1080 would be maybe 15-20.. i can run a test conversion real quick

15-20 Mb wouldn't be all that bad. If they were going to be 75Mb+ per video I would have to go to a friends to download them. This 5Gb monthly usage gets old. Makes me want to cry knowing I can't get any other broadband service here.

ok, a 15 second loop with a framerate of 30 with a bitrate of 1.2mb is 3 mb's
unfortunately there is some slight degradating because the converter i use can only go to 12000 kb/s on bitrate... i need to find a new converter when i start putting everything as 1080p by default, its so slight you can only notice when comparing though so it'd be fine for you.

Wow that really wasn't a very big increase at all. If I get a chance later I will take a look at your video's and make a small list. I don't want to waste your time unless you just want to make them all HD so all users have that option?

what ever you request I'll put in the post aswell, it will be a while before i just throw all the 1080's up there since very few people have a powerfull enough computer, which btw, you do have a pretty good rig right? it takes quite a bit of resources to run a 1080 smoothly in PS, if your unsure of weather you can run it, I can send the test conversion I made and see if it lags at all on your system.

I would expect my HTPC is good enough to run 1080P videos. Specs are as follows: - Intel Core2Duo 2.8ghz
- 4Gb DDR2
- XFX Radeon HD 5770
- 1 300gb SATA II HDD
- Windows 7 x64 w/ SP1
But I really can't say for sure. Cheers, Slayer
