I have a couple of conflicting values for solo phrase markers.
There are 2 values I've found so far. 103 - Rockband Legacy 115 - Rockband Pro
103 conflicts with the old Guitar Hero SP Phrases. 115 is listed as Spotlight Phrases in some other documentation I've found. Is Spotlight the same as Solo? Is this the GH Solo Sections??
Also does anyone have any info on the Scoring System for RB solos?
Thanks David

The way FoF determines what note 103 is marking is by the presence of star power phrases (note 116) in the chart. If the chart has two or more star power phrases, it is considered a Rock Band chart and note 103 is treated as a solo marker instead of star power. In the past, I suggested they add support for an INI tag to force Rock Band detection (ie. so you can author solos without having to manually author star power phrases), but they never did anything with the idea. If you are willing to add support for such a tag, I could implement it in EOF in a matter of minutes.

But what is the solo marker for old GH charts?

I looked but couldn't find much besides people saying Guitar Hero originally only used text events like "[solo]" to mark the start: www.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5523Presumably, the solo would end when the next section marker (ie. "[verse]" or "[chorus]") was reached, but I couldn't find any more details. Somebody at FoF-FF or ScoreHero may have a better idea.

Just spoke with faddog and he seems to think there were no solo section in the early GH games.

yeah, in the GH series, it's my understanding that the solos were not marked, but rather, labeled as a part of the song (ie. Chorus, bridge, solo a, solo b, solo c, chorus 2, outro, etc. as seen in "practice mode") in the GH games

well, i'm not certain on the specifics, but i THINK, there's some kind of formula that takes into account the number of notes in the solo, and percentage intervals of that solo for the bonus rock band gives you at the end of a solo... something that pops out to me as being fairly simple would be using something like this... (#of notes in solo*4[the standard 4 times multiplier of notes, this way the actual multiplier in game doesn't matter for bonus scoring, AND it gives you a boost based on a 4 times multiplier anyways]*percentage of notes hit in solo) this way, at best, you can double your score of the solo part and the % hit has a direct impact on how many bonus points you get per solo... the last thing you may want to consider is that if you go below a certain percentage, you can award no points (ie. anything below 60% a standard FAILING grade cap)

Rock Band solos are as follows: n = number of notes in the solo. Hold points mean nothing. Chords count as single notes. Perfect Solo: 100%, 100n points Awesome Solo: 95%-99%, 50n points (Obviously, there's a huge cut for one missed note. Imagine the bonus on a GGaHT FC...) Great Solo: 90% - 94%, 30n points Good Solo: 80% - 89%, 20n points Solid Solo: 70% - 79%, 10n points Okay Solo: 60% - 69%, 5n points Messy Solo: 0% - 59%, 0 points Also I was wondering, david, if you knew that you didn't need to smash your drum set to get a full score on BRE? Heres a video to demonstrate (I recommend muting your sound): And here is the scoring details: wiki.scorehero.com/BigRockEndingDon't mean to remind you of features you've repeatedly said you don't like, but maybe it'll help for another feature/idea if you weren't aware of exactly how BRE worked.

i think that if you use solo sections, a BRE could just be given solo sections, charted CORRECTLY, and given the solo bonus points as compensation for doing well on the crazy ending of a song whenever applicable...
