Hey everyone, I'm just found this awesome game and I'm looking forward to revisiting my Rock Band nostalgia, however I'm having trouble setting up my DTX500. I'm using this USB-to-MIDI cable to connect my DTX500 to my Windows 10 machine. The machine detects the device as USB MIDI in the Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers. However, whenever I try to install the latest Yamaha USB-MIDI driver, I get an error message saying no device is connected. I try running Phase Shift without installing the driver, but hitting the pads yields no results. Running mididata also shows nothing coming through, despite hitting the pads. I've combed over the ReadMe excessively at this point, but haven't seen about any other configuration I need to do on my end. Can someone help me understand what I'm missing/doing wrong?

That Yamaha driver is only necessary if you connect your drum brain with a USB-B cable to your computer. You should not need any additional drivers beyond the one for your MIDI cable.
Profile your MIDI drums through the appropriate README, and SEARCH through the forums to see if anybody has posted a profile for your same drum set.
Next time, summon the cat to my place. I need the company.

Thanks for getting back with me! Ok, so I just tried as you said, but no luck. I downloaded Control Profiler Release 3 from the Downloads page, and the app instructs me to press any button on the controller. I do so, but no luck from that. I searched the forums prior to posting but also no luck. Which is surprising--it's a super common kit, and I've seen people make it work on YouTube.

I wouldn't be able to download anything without at least the mouse.

leave the mouse just leave your basics in mouse keyboard drums then try the PsMidiProfiler. This did the trick, thanks man! I played for a bit, and honestly it felt a little uncomfortable, even after I did the calibration. Do you have this experience? Also, my kit doesn't have any sort of midi output for YELLOW_S. This sucks, because I can't do Real Drums solely because I'm missing this one output. I really hate having to reach all the way to the ride just to hit a blue cymbal note. Would you know any solution around this? PsMidiProfiler wouldn't allow me to just have YELLOW_S as the same as YELLOW_O unfortunately.

I find with the real drum set up there's not a lot of songs I have found that support it. I run Adv Drums on all songs which is snare 3 toms 3 cymbals and bass drum. check out some of the setups people have posted you might find one that works well. I also find if you keep your midi_profiles.ini file to only one system setup. you can edit it with notepad. Yellow_S is sizzle which is your hi hat pedal about half to 3/4 pressed. if your system support it. there a post about what they all do
