Hi there. First off I'd like to say thanks for your efforts in creating Phase Shift. So far I like it much better overall than FoFiX. It runs 10x smoother (literally my framerate is easily 10x higher), and supports forced HOPO's - something FoFiX is currently sorely lacking. Now on to the point of my post - a few issues I've noticed and some suggestions.
First off, I've noticed a bit of a problem with sustains when playing songs with separated audio tracks. If the notes completely run together, lets say for example holding Green and Red and the tail goes all the way to the next note which is Red and Yellow, the audio will cut out briefly as soon as you stop holding G & R. I've even purposely played the following note late or very late and this still can't be avoided. It's headache inducing at times when the audio keeps cutting in and out. I don't know if maybe its just not taking your audio delay into consideration (in my case around 105-ish) or if you guys intended for this to happen but I really hope you do something to change it. Maybe you can somehow add a delay to the audio cutting out if you end a sustain too early and don't play the next note correctly? That should clear it up. (My guess is the audio delay is being ignored)
Even if the notes don't completely run together (lets say the tail ends 1/16th or even 1/8th before the next note on a fast song), this can still happen, again to the point of having to intentionally play the next note late to avoid it. I have pretty good timing and have to choose between either playing the next note late or having the guitar track cut in/out quickly as I play the next note perfectly.
The next issue I've noticed is somewhat minor but still pretty annoying. Phase Shift doesn't seem to currently support Time Signatures in a chart (4/4, 3/4, etc). Every chart plays as 4/4 the entire time starting at the very first line, causing the beat markers to be 'off' with the audio. When playing a song that changes time signatures, or if the chart doesn't begin on the first beat of a measure, it can screw with my head sometimes.
Not sure if this is intentional, but when you whammy a star power/overdrive/phase shift sustained note (don't know what you are calling it), you build more power, as I would expect. However, if it is currently active, and you whammy a marked sustain note, you do not conserve/build power. Like I said, no idea if you did that on purpose in order to be 'different', but it just seems inconsistent. Would be nice if you could build more power with SP/OD/PS active just the same as if it were not.
Also on the topic of SP/OD/PS.... The last few days I've been having an obvious bug crop up where PS is stuck activated for nearly the entire song. The last chart I remember playing where this happened is the GH chart of Sweet Child 'O Mine, but I've not replayed any of the songs where this happened so I don't know if it would happen again due to an issue with the chart itself.
A few more minor suggestions would be to display the Fretters name on the song list (as someone who creates charts, I'd appreciate it , maybe speed up the scrolling as it takes FOREVER for me to go through my library, add a display for your current note streak so I can immediately kick myself in the ass for missing the 601st note and.. uh... well I guess that's about all I can think of for now really. Anything else I have in mind (solo sections and such) has already been discussed.
Thanks again and keep up the good work .
