ok so in the past i have had trouble finding songs with certain parts in them that i wanted to play again cause i got a pretty big and varied music folder so this is a suggestion that would make that problem go away:D this doesnt even have to be put in the game itself (it could be a program by itself) but it would be more convenient if it was.. so lets say you have something where you can put down notes like a song editor and then have the game search your music folder for charts that have notes in them in that same order (only in the same order though so that you dont have to place them perfectly or figure out the bpm or anything fancy) and either tell you what they are and what difficulty the note order is on (and maybe what time it starts in the song) or just give you a list of all that have that note order and when you click one it takes you to the right difficulty and lets you play it
sorry for not cleaning this up a bit (if you dont understand anything just ask) but im not good at typing out stuff on forums and i think this is the first thread ive ever made anywhere.. oh and also the type of notes (like hopos or strums) shouldnt have to be specified while placing the notes.. just to make that clear:D.. also if you do decide to add that in i just thought about chords.. a seperate 1 2 3 (green then red then yellow) might be taken as a 123 chord.. just a last minute thought

can you elaborate on the part? do you mean like the instrument such as guitar, drums, etc.? if so that seems like a pretty good idea (perhaps a filter to choose it to display only songs with that instriments?) if you mean a certain pattern of a song to have it look for... then i dont think thats a good idea since it seems very hard to make accurate and dont seem to make much sense since you would probably know what song you want if you were looking for a certain part.. in which case a search function would be perfectly fine.

oh ya sorry i forgot to mention i play the guitar.. only on expert though so i might not be too considerate of other difficulties when suggesting things.. anyway when i say i "had trouble finding songs with certain parts in them" i mean like a note pattern.. for example if a song had a solo with a part that went 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 and you forgot what the song was named then you could just put 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 into the song searcher thing and it will look for songs with 1 2 3 4 5 4 3 2 1 in them.. sorry im not too good at explaining things lol.. but no im just talking about the notes.. not instruments or anything like that

I get it, but honestly.. I dont see much use for this feature, and I got a feeling that David will probably think the same.

It's an interesting feature but I would guess it would be more likely when I add a practice section to the game. Where you can practice certain Riffs and Drum Beats a little like the Beatles Rockband Practice Section.

oh so youre gonna stick a practice mode in eh? thats good to hear.. been waiting for 1 on non mainstream plastic guitar games for a couple years now.. i gotta ask though.. will you be able to slow songs down in practice mode like GH3 or RB2 or whatever else games do that? cause this is really a make or break feature imo and i would really love to see it put in the game.. fofix can do this but it doesnt allow you to slow it down AND pick a section so that is almost not useful for me.. i wasnt sure i should post this here but then i realized this pretty much is a suggestion lol.. not sure if i should have made a whole new thread for it or not though.. if i should then just tell me and i will.. i havent seen this suggestion posted anywhere else around these forums either so i just had to ask about it

Yes, it's in the works and it will allow you to slow down the song. It's a bit of a pain to code which is why it's taking so long. The problem I'm having is coding the audio FX to time streach the Music Files. It's easy to do this when you are not preserving the original pitch but when you are then it takes much more code and audio FX to pull this off. I might release a version where I just change the sample rate but the draw back of this is that the audio pitch will lower as you slow down the song.
Thanks David

phase shift keeps on impressing me and i havent been impressed by almost any game in a long time.. every time i think of something that could make the game less awesome (like if you didnt have a certain feature that i consider necessary) you already have it covered.. you really know what youre doing and nowadays thats saying something:D i have no complaints yet and i usually find something wrong with games the first day or so when playing a new game.. and well anyway im patient so take as much time as you need for the highest quality game you can make imo:D

Thanks for the support! We have been working hard on the game but there is still much more to do. I'm just now finding some free time and hopefully we'll make a new release pretty soon.
Thanks David

youre welcome:D its good to keep time to rest.. i heard from another game maker that you should take time to rest and keep in pretty nice mental shape if youre gonna be coding stuff cause if you spend an extra hour coding at night while tired youll end up spending an extra 2 hours just figuring out what you did wrong lol just sayin.. anyway to add to my original idea maybe there should be a way to determine the speed of the notes you search for.. like if its a generic pattern such as 3 2 1 3 2 1 3 2 1 there might be lets say a way to limit the range the notes can be in or something like that.. so lets say theres a song that goes like 3 2 1 3 2 1 3 2 1 and you want a song with a bit of speed that goes in the same pattern.. you can put in the notes but make it have to be within a certain range so it can only be 3 2 1 3 2 1 3 2 1 or faster.. thats probably a bad idea to add in cause it makes it more than just simple and its probably highly unnecessary.. but maybe it can be useful.. its just an extra idea i had that you can do whatever you want with lol

It's good to know a new version is in the works...been waiting for a while.
This sounds pretty cool. I'd like to see this in future versions.

since i didnt think i should make a new thread on an old question.. im just going to add to what i asked about changing speeds of the songs in practice mode.. can you make it where songs can also be sped up in practice mode? and perhaps let you speed up (yet not slow down) songs outside of practice mode as well? for instance i might like to make a video of me FCing some things at a higher speed but still want to keep score and starpower or phase shift or whatever its called.. im not proposing we let people slow songs down outside of practice mode though.. that can be left solely to practice mode because if you could slow down sounds outside of practice mode that may create problems in the legit FC hungry guitar hero community on youtube lol.. if they slowed it down and then FCed it and then sped the video back up it could look really realistic and that could be a problem but if you could only speed songs up outside of practice mode then there should be no problems.. i dont know if i explained this very well so if theres anything that i explained poorly then just ask and i will try to explain it better:D
