Like, a directory that you can put necks that would be available no matter what theme you were using. As is, you can only use themes that are in the theme itself, so if you want say to only use a black fretboard but you like to switch themes a lot, you have to put the black fretboard in all of the themes.

This would only be useful if you were, like me, an artist. More specifically, one who was always updating his neck, until he got it right. Or, maybe if you only had a small HDD/SSD, and you just could not spare the space of one or two .PNG files.
Don't confuse this as me not being in favor of it. I really am. I'm just pointing out why it would be practical, as opposed to preferable.

I think it'd be useful just as so that you don't have to take the time to add the file to each individual theme folder, cause I have quite a few themes and switch between them at random. I just don't want to have to be bothered with putting the file in the folders. Or if you just had a bunch of necks that you'd like to be randomized instead of what's in the theme.

As a makeshift solution, create your own necks folder in the root directory of Phase Shift (or wherever else you'd like), copy all the necks into it, and then place symbolic links to that folder inside each theme. I haven't tried this myself, though, so say how well it works on your system. Edit: Seems to work on Ubuntu. It'll probably be more complicated to do this on Windows, as it's a bit unwieldy having to use the command prompt for it. Two ideas sprung from this: A, for now I can use this to tell what theme remote players are using, reflected by the neck they're using. B, I can have easy constants between themes for other things like SFX. I'm definitely going to be playing around with this...

yeah it should be added. Its not a big work to add the necks to each theme, knowing that u probably only use a theme, but keeping things simple would be nice.

It works just like I had hoped it would, except for having to add it to all the themes. But outside of that, it's exactly how I wanted it to, so thank you!
