Hello there Recently I've acquired a new guitar - from the RB2 bundle - and it's showing this kind of problem: Everytime I press the blue fret and the back (or select) button at the same time it also pops the orange button. Using the buttondata.exe that comes with Phase Shift I've confirmed that it's not in-game only: It shows the orange button data (n 52) repeating itself whenever I hold the two buttons together. Has anyone ever came across this too? Is there a fix? Any ideas? Much appreciated.

Is it an Xbox or PlayStation guitar? I believe they're both handled differently (unless there's a way to make PS controllers XInput), so that information might be needed.
As is, I think controllers as a whole just send a couple bytes, with a bit being a button and a float for each of the analog sticks (in a guitar's case, accelerometer and the whammy bar since those are usually mapped to the analog sticks). Anywho, I'm sure the data gets bit shifted or something so your problem might be related to that. I've looked into how Xbox controllers work, and I'd assume that PS controllers would be roughly the same but Sony I don't think has ever released official drivers even.

It's a Xbox controller. Could you please elaborate further? I've opened the guitar and none of the connectors seem to be misplaced or anything. I must admit I know nothing about these guitars other than playing

I think you might have just gotten a faulty one. I had a couple RB2 guitars way back when, and they both registered fine in the game.

It's a Xbox controller. Could you please elaborate further? I've opened the guitar and none of the connectors seem to be misplaced or anything. I must admit I know nothing about these guitars other than playing It's software related, nothing you can do by just opening it up and messing with stuff unless you replaced the guitar's circuit boards and stuff. In order to send the least amount of data possible, they use bitshifting in order to set single bits inside of a byte, instead of using a byte for every button as that wouldn't be efficient. Somehow your problem is (Blue + Back == Orange). You said it's from an RB2 bundle, so I'd assume it's an official guitar from Mad Catz and the only thing I could think of is that you got a crappy 3rd party guitar who's manufacturer couldn't do things right. I'm assuming that your problem is that you'd want to use Back to activate star power. While it will definitely be annoying, just use the tilt until you find a fix. I'm not sure if Phase Shift is set up in this way, but you could possibly have a keyboard button be your star power button and just hit that whenever you need to (you'd probably want to do it with your feet since you wouldn't have to move your hands off the guitar).

I see, well, tilting isn't that bad, and should that fail, I just need to remember to not deploy Phase Shift/Star Power/Overdrive while hitting blue notes. Thanks guys.
