Once you have a thousand or so songs in Phase Shift it becomes apparent that scrolling through the songlist is a mess even when it's sorted by Artist (which I most often do) because everything just seems thrown together with no sense of clarity. Personally, I always liked Rock Band 3's system where each artist has its own "section" and when there are 3 or more songs in the same album then they are grouped together in the album's original track order. For Phase Shift, this could use the "track = #" data from the song.ini files, but those aren't often available so I guess alphabetical order would have to suffice when necessary.
Also, Rock Band 3's system of holding down the orange fretbutton (or kick pedal) to open a popup menu to scroll to the next alphabet is pretty handy.
Of course, there are more "immediate" things that could be done with Phase Shift before this, but I thought I'd might as well point some suggestions of my own. Either way, I love Phase Shift and I can't be more thankful to all those that made this possible all the way from the creators and custom theme makers to the people who make available the music like bluzer and C3!

I'm gonna say the typical thing that everyone does when this is suggested: you can organize your songs manually by putting them into folders. Yes, creating sub-folders in your music library is a thing you can do. The game only sees the song folders as songs because they contain a song.ini file.
Better organization may come eventually, but until then just try to work around it. Believe me, the devs know it's a problem and it's been suggested a dozen times already.

Wow, I was totally not aware of that. /sarcasm I like having everything thing in one place. I know that's my problem more than anything, but I figured I'd say something anyway just as a suggestion. But like I said, it's not the biggest issue in the world. I'll admit I probably should've searched more to see if someone already made a thread about this, but I didn't see any when I was looking through the forums. EDIT: I guess I didn't look that hard since there's a thread about this on the second page... Sorry! Though to be fair I don't think anyone has mentioned the "group songs from the same album together" thing before.

Though to be fair I don't think anyone has mentioned the "group songs from the same album together" thing before. That's getting into primary/secondary sorting methods, which would probably just begin to add too much clutter. There's a bunch of ways the menu could be improved. I personally think the entire system sucks and should be scrapped in place of a mouse-based GUI, but not everybody wants that.

A mouse-based GUI would be a bit of a PITA. Part of the nicety of the current system is that you can control it from your drum kit or guitar or whatever, and your computer can be hooked up to a projector and stereo.
It'd be nice if, say, cymbals would navigate at a faster clip than the toms. So I could "page" through the song list.

It should have a option to have a folder like sorting to only show 1 artist per line, but when you click that artist/band, it then brings up a sub section/menu with the songs of that artist/band.

That's because it is. This game is on PC. It's not on any consoles. I fail to see why mouse support could be a bad thing!

I have thought of how they could pull it off but I told myself its bad because if you use a mouse sure it might be faster but there is the problem of switching between controllers and a mouse/keyboard setup whether it's better done automatically (preferred) or manually (has benefits) it could and may be too complex.

If you want a work around, you can a use folder with symbolic links to songs, though that does take a lot of manual work. I do that to play by difficulty.

About 2000 songs in GH and RB for PS projects!!! And they have no organisation at all...All folders named chaotically with no system. All info in ini file that located inside each folder. So 1 song can be in free different place and cant find it, without opening all 2000 ini`s!! And we really need some database administration
