I have to second this one. I have about 3000 songs right now and it takes several minutes for PS to load through the "songs" portion of the load process.
And I just upgraded that machine to use an EVO SSD
Any way to speed that up?

I don't think he's asking about why the game itself takes so long to boot up, but why songs take so long.
The more audio files you have in a song, the longer it takes to load.
If you want faster song load times, mix down stems, or get better RAM and a SSD.

Ah. Could be. I was talking about the game load time and the time it takes to enumerate the songs.
Sorry for the confusion.

As programmer I think that the game uses linear recursive algorithm to scan folders and their subfolders. I use similar (if not the same) algorithm in my PsMixer application to scan the songs. In my new unreleased version I use paraller algorithm (which uses all cpu cores) and the scan time for around 1100 songs is 3 times faster (9 seconds vs 3 seconds). As user you could use SSD or Ram Drive Software to improve the song scan speed.
