So i did install the VC++ 2010 redistribution package and i do have a msvcr100.dll on my system and i get the same message with Phase Shift v0.71. I'm running Vista 64 so i installed the x64 Version. Since that didn't help i also installed the x86 version. I also updated my directX lately, but msvcr100 is part of the vc++ redistribution anyway so that shouldn't matter.

you have to install VC++ Redist 2010 that's what i did. Just now i uninstalled both the x86 and the x64 version i installed earlier and tried installing the one linked on the download page (x86) again and it didn't help. Phase Shift still complains that the msvcr100.dll ist missing.

That doesn't install anything because my directX version is already greater or equal. EDIT: To clarify this: i also recently (last week) used the directX updater to update my directX9, since i read something about directX 11 only emulating an older version of directX9, which i needed to run Civilization 5. I also installed the directX-stuff linked on the download page. Please tell me what kind of additional information i could provide to help you help me

Please do the following: - Go to your control panel and click programs and features.
- Remove any VS Redistributables whatever the year (2005, 2008, 2010 etc).
- Download and install the latest VS Redist below.

while i did have some other vc++ redistributables installed, this didn't help either That Microsoft Live Redistributables looks suspect to me. Did you remove that?? You said that you had MSVCR100.dll on your system. Can you try for a test copying it into the game folder. Thanks David

I removed the Microsoft Live Redistributable and copied the MSVCR100.dll from my Windows\SysWOW64 folder to the Phase Shift folder without any effect. Oddly enough the MSVR100.dll was created on 10.10. while i installed the only remaining vc++ redistributable on 12.10.. EDIT: the details-tab claims that this dll belongs to version 10.0.30319.1 anyway

assuming you did have everything installed correctly it might be an issue related to you using an os language with characters the game won't recognise, if you have the option to switch to english it would be a good test to see if that fixes it

I can give that a try, but i doubt that this would give me an error about a missing msvcr100.dll.

While i still have no idea what was wrong with my install of the redistributable package and the dlls it deployed, but the game now does start after i downloaded a version of msvcr100.dll from some dll-download page and put it in the game folder. Also you could try this:
So people wouldn't have do install the redistributable anymore.

well good to hear its working, people have had similar issues with the dx updater not actually putting the right files on while it works for the majority of people, i think this is the first case of the vc++ updater doing that
