I hadn't really thought of a good way to determine how much of the chart should be converted to SP. Are there any good rules of thumb on this? How long and simple, or how short and complex it is, along with the possibilities of finishing the SP phrase the same time as the other instrument parts, like a full band energy sync. Sure, there's no bonus, but it does add awesomeness. ... Harmonix, look what you've done to me.

I was thinking some kind of function that relates together the total number of notes, beats per minute, and length of the song to come up with a good number of phrases for the song, which are then spaced as evenly as possible. IIRC, the Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock had between 5 and 7 SP phrases per song, depending on length. I don't know what math you'd use to determine that, but you could probably figure out something with a bit of time and thought - I don't have the math skills to do it
