I have a large number of charts that were created prior to Phase Shift's existence and relied on FoFiX's automatic addition of SP if it wasn't in the chart to begin with. I don't feel like personally going through and editing all the songs I want to have SP with specially created SP phrases (mostly because I'm not a fretter), so I was wondering if there's either an option or a coming option for EOF to do that automatically. If not, it's no big deal, I'll just cry myself to sleep

I could probably throw a function to add some, but I'd need a description of FoF's old behavior for adding them automatically in order to get them placed similarly.

That's great, but unfortunately, I have no idea how FoF did it. Obviously, it's open source, so if you went out of your way and looked at the code, you may be able to figure it out, but I wouldn't know.

I don't think the way FOF does it is important, it's not known for getting things like this correct. It seems you need to generate the phrases proportional to the song length and the note count. The value needs to allow the player to get a full rank which isn't always possible without using SP.

I'm assuming Phase Shift's and FoF's scoring are too different to have the same number of SP notes required?

i'd like to know the extact formula for achieving rank 6 in a song, i always end up wondering if there are enough SP phrases when im charting.

We use the same values as RB, there was a page on score hero with these values I think.

Found this: wiki.scorehero.com/CutoffFormulasValues are diferent for each game, did you use the values from RB2? i guess with that info rayne could get something done. BTW, call me crazy but it certainly doesnt feel like those are the values used in PS, getting a rank 6 in guitar feels a lot harder than getting rank 6 in bass

I don't think we give the same points for tails as RB. I'm not sure though.

If you can summarize some of Phase Shift's criteria for how to gold star a song, I could try to implement this in EOF as a menu function/preference/etc. Details about score streak multipliers will be needed as well, so I can know how many SP phrases need to be in, how many notes in each, etc.

Well we basically total up all the notes and tail lengths to generate the total base score if the multiplier was always x1. So each Note gets 25 points and the tails give 5 points per 8th note. Then basically I use the same values as RB2 on the 360 to generate the ranks.
So if we are using guitar the ranks are. 1 Star 0.21 2 Stars 0.46 3 Stars 0.77 4 Stars 1.85 5 Stars 3.08 6 Stars 4.52 So for 6 rank you'd need to get a score greater than ( base score x 4.52 )
Make Sense?

I suppose so. Regarding the tail lengths, you're assuming 4/4 time signature, right? Or are you taking the chart's current T/S into account? Should I just count it as 5 points for every half-beat's worth of tail?

I'm just using 4/4 for this: I was using 5 points for every eight note but to simplify just do 10 points for every quarter note. So I just take ( TailLengthTicks / TicksPerQuarterNote ) * 10.0f

So, uh... any update on whether this can or will be added? It's nice that I got some attention from admins and the creator of EoF (good job on it, by the way, definitely what I use when I notice severe mistakes in my downloaded charts), of course.

I hadn't really thought of a good way to determine how much of the chart should be converted to SP. Are there any good rules of thumb on this?
