For some reason EOF after importing a song will export the lyrics as both a MIDI Lyric event and a MIDI Text event. Is there a reason for this or is this a bug. Phase Shift will pick up on both types because I noticed some songs use the MIDI Lyric events and Others Use MIDI Text events. As such the game is doubling up the lyrics. I can make Phase Shift use the first type is see but I was wonding why you are writing both?
Thanks David

This was mentioned elsewhere, but Harmonix authored it this way (added text events for lyrics in addition to lyric events) in some Rock Band MIDIs. EOF formally writes all lyrics as lyric events, so it's probably best to just use those and avoid treating text events as lyrics.

But why would EOF if I import a chart with just text events change that into a chart with both lyrics and text? shouldn't it remove the text if it's converting them to lyrics?
Thanks David

EOF isn't designed to convert the text events to lyrics, it just retains them as text events in their original track (ie. PART VOCALS). The pitches and lyric text are read from the lyric events exclusively. I don't know if there is any purpose served in Rock Band 3 by having lyrics as text events in the vocal track, but if you think it would be better, I could have EOF filter out text events from that track if they don't begin with an open bracket character (which all of the animation events have).
