Would it be too much trouble to add support for them? Basically a third strum button is all that would take to make it happen, im not sure about xbox guitars but for ps3 ones it would be mapped to button 7 which idetifies solo buttons. In button_data.exe language that would be button 54.
It would be nice to start tapping sections without the wonky elbow strum technique ;D

I don't own any guitar with Solo Buttons just the slider bar which I can never figure out how to read decent values from. What does the solo buttons do different in game?

Elbow Strum for the win o/
What are these buttons ? Are they the little buttons near the body of the RBtars ?

What are these buttons ? Are they the little buttons near the body of the RBtars ? Those are the fret buttons in question. My understanding is that during a solo section in RB3, you can press these and not have to strum for the hit to count, whereas the normal fret buttons still require a strum for each solo note.

Sounds fine in principle it just a pain to add a feature like this without having the controller to test with in person. But I'll put it on my list.
Thanks David

If you need me to send you any button data, I have a Rock Band guitar that has the solo buttons.

the solo buttons work pretty much like the cymbals from rb2/3 drumkits, each one equals to 2 button presses, the regular button ID + solo button ID(the same for all the solo frets)

David I know this is an old topic but if you still don't have a rb guitar to test with I could keep an eye out for one at the good will if you would want to pay for the shipping I could send you one the shipping shouldn't be more than 6 or 7 bucks as long as you live in america.

I'm not sure if there's a Goodwill in the UK... DWSK's in the UK. Shipping over a plastic guitar will not be cost effective. I had to pay over $90USD to get a 3lbs package to Norway. (turns out there's a very high tariff on American candy)

I don't see why they couldn't send some test builds to someone who DOES have an RBtar to test it. Yeah, this thread IS 3 years old, but it's a relatively easy thing to put is (at least, it should be, looking at how JD explained it with the whole 2 inputs kinda thing), I honestly don't get why it hadn't been done yet (outside of the whole no RBtar to test with, like I said, maybe just send a test build to someone who (not me, as I don't) has an RBtar?).

I have a rbtar along with 3 of my friends. It's a big thing for us we love the solo keys. I recently played with assigning button 7 as the strum but that didn't turn out. It would seem that it would be a somewhat trivial task though I'm only a novice coder. Is there any info that I could send that would help with developing this diagnostics, logs, etc. Like I said I have access to a ps3 rb1.

A word of warning for anybody who, like me, has a PS3 WarBeast. The "solo buttons" (so-called) don't work on it. At least, not on Rock Band. So, this function, if ever made to work, may not with the WarBeast.
