this issiue has been existant pretty much since the beginning, I've held off on reporting this because I remember hearing something about david reworking the main menu before 1.0, and since were almost at 1.0 I think its time to bring this up.
here are the issues, one is just a major annoyance and I believe I noted it before, and the other is a crash. The song selection lags bad when you have a lot of songs (I have all of the RB DLC) and going through that setlist is almost impossible because it will lag until it crashes, which leads to the current bug report, I'll lag my way through the DLC setlist until it eventually just stops moving, unless I go down once and wait 2 secondsor so, then go down another song and wait again, it will lag and crash going down the setlist, is their any chance of a fix for this in the near future? not just the crash but possibly the lag too? I personally think the laggy menu needs to go before an actual 1.0 release because it kinda ruins the professional look PS has. Thanks.
ok, so heres more info on this:
My System specs: CPU: i5 -2400 @ 3.10 GHz 3.30 GHz RAM: 8 gigs DDR3 GPU: GTX 460 SC

Do you have your songs organised by folders at all?
For an example, my song list is divided by customs, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band. It's then further organised off with more folders, until you get to the song folder itself.

yes,my organization goes like this
Custom songs(folder) ->Artist->album->songs
Guitar Hero Series(folder) > GH 1 > GH 2 > GH 3 > GH 4 > GH 5 > GH 6 > and all the mini GH's inbetween
Rockband Series (folder) > RB 1 > RB 2 > RB 3 > RB DLC (listed alphabetically by artist)
Band Hero Series (folder) > BH
thats pretty irrelevant though, making more folders is just going around the issue and not fixing it, plus folders with a label.png/album.png cause a laggy scroll too

It was just a thought, and your information has proved me wrong.

I would say that possible ways to fix that would be putting a delay in loading the titles of the songs and the album information etc. I assume that the lag is caused by storing too much information at once aka the song names. So if he puts a delay and a maximum string limit, it might prevent the crash. Also it might have to do with loading the previews into a cache as you pass through each song. Use alt tab to look at task manager to see the size of phase shift while its lagging. Maybe knowing if it is utilizing too much ram or just processing could give a hint to the problem.

Staying at the Menu Screen with the songs takes up 450 mb of ram. While scrolling through the songs takes up 550 mb of ram and then it crashes. I think that PS should work on loading partial amounts of the list and dumping parts of the song list out of memory as you scroll up and down the list. When a video game character moves between screens, the old screen is taken out of memory and the new screen is put into memory. If phase shift only loaded the part of the list of songs that is currently viewable, it would manage memory better and possibly fix this bug.

i have less memory and don't run into the problem so theres probably more going on
would help to confirm this happens on a clean version of the game, extract to a new folder and don't use any modded graphics or old profiles make sure its all new and standard

You don't have this problem when loading a 200+ song list?
