This is my first post on this website, so I hope it is still a good question and good post. Is there ANY way I could make HOPOs in Phase Shift for all my songs better than just the two options for Normal and Drunk? I ask this, because in FOFIX you could just add a hopo_threshold, and a an eighthnote_hopo type value for the song.ini file, and the notes get hit a little easier. However, in Phase Shift I only see those two options through the options menu, and it's like the game can't read those values correctly in the song.ini value in the first place! With both the normal and drunk hopo options, I STILL cannot hit the notes near as good as in FOFIX. I play on expert as well, so I would know where the difference is. In FOFIX I can hit almost 90 percent in EVERY song, but can't do that in Phase Shift for some reason. Also, I already configured my ps2 guitar hero controller correctly for Phase Shift, so it isn't my controller not hitting them well. One more thing though, before I make this whole scenario a big deal on here. lol. Maybe in the next release, also have the songs listed or added in the game able to be sorted out through a button. Like change the song list from the alphabetical song names, to alphabetical artist names. That sort of thing To me, it's just like the HOPOs are not as good in Phase Shift as they were in FOFIX. Maybe that could change in the future if I am not able to change it myself?

the eighthnote_hopo tag isn't for setting the hit window. It is to set the maximum distance for auto generated HOPO notes.
Sorting the song list is allready on my Todo List.
Thanks David

oh ok. Well is there still a way for me to make the hit window in the (wide) stage, not narrow, not wider and widest, just the lowest wide, or notes more hopo-able instead of using those two settings (normal and drunk), because it is just weird that the notes aren't as easy to hit as FOFIX was? I know that PS is still in the fixing and ironing out stages, but I want to know this, because I might switch to your guys' PS, instead of fofix, but until I know or find out how to do what I was wanting to do with the HOPOs, I'll have to stick with Fofix.
Also, if you guys' could help me out with this, I will greatly switch BIG time! lol. Plus fofix has certain lag issues, which PS didn't have period! PS doesn't have lag whatsoever! That is why I want to switch, but again, I need to know how to make the hit window better than it is, and/or make the notes more hopoable with a tag value or something in the ini files or what?

the reason you cant hit them as well as in fofix is because fofix has a rediculously huge hit window, which was used to make up for the lack of audio/video calibration. did you try setting your AV callibration yet?

Oh ok, I didn't know that fofix had that. I never have used the A/V calibration thing ever in any games like this on my PC and my PS3 as well! I never had a problem with delays like that. Plus, the songs are fine. Like I said I can hit most notes in FOFIX with those settings on my PC with the ps2 guitar and USB adapter, but unlike Phase Shift, to me the hit window and note-hitting problem is kind of like Guitar Hero 1 and 2 (the first guitar heroes made), and their hit window. It is ridiculously opposite!
I am not being rude or anything, but you said FOFIX has a ridiculously huge hit window, when in my opinion, Phase Shift is the complete opposite hit window being the most narrow.
I guess though, everyone plays different and how they want, but that is why with fofix I have edited all of my song.ini files to allow this to let me hit them easier. To me, both of these games' hit windows set to 'standard' doesn't cut it for me. With standard, it is like you HAVE to miss notes on purpose, just like the first 2 guitar hero games ever made! The hit window is VERY narrow or not very good even on normal. To be honest, the real guitar and tablature software I'm sure is "in sync" and perfect with playing compared to both of these games, but at least with fofix you are able to "modify" the game's values to your liking!
Like I said though, maybe it is just because PS is in it's beginning stages to become better and better. I just figured there was a way to help a lot of people not feel like they are missing so much. I love both fofix and phase shift, but maybe it should be able to be more customizable as fofix is. That would open a door for a LOT of more people from around the world wanting to play PS over fofix as well.
I already see that a lot of people switched and like PS more now, but with me, I can't give up what I like right now until I guess there is more of a way to modify and customize PS more.
I am just glad there are free guitar hero games on PC for us fans, so in that respect, you guys have still did a tremendous job in giving this whole community what it has to offer and giving all of us more guitar hero gaming options!
Good luck on PS and I hope it get's better and better. I just needed a way to have the hit window at least bigger than "Drunk", because that still isn't big enough for even solos (I tried). The HOPOS and such I guess goes with that.
Thanks though asskickulater!

If you're having to miss on purpose, your calibration is likely incorrect.

your not going to even try setting the audio/video calibration before passing your final judgement on PS?

the wording in these messages are a little confusing but two points stand out, the first as raynebc picked up on, having to miss on purpose and the second your already having trouble with the standard fof window, both of these suggest lag so calibration is your best bet

I'll try again later with PS. I deleted the game because of this, but I will redownload it, and try to calibrate it. I'll give it another shot Maybe it is the calibration. I'll guess I'll see....
