Hi
I'm sorry for my bad English. Firstly, Big thanks to all the contributors...
I'm playing Phase Shift since 2 years and "Drums Real mode" since 3 months. I identified two different methods used to create "Drums Real" charts.
-R1- method :
Some charters use YELLOW_C for [cymbal hit and closed_HH hit] and [YELLOW_S or YELLOW_O] for open_HH's nuances (sizzled or open).
-R2- method :
Other charters use YELLOW_C only for cymbals and YELLOW_S for closed_HH (with a custom 'png') and YELLOW_O for sizzled/open_HH.
Let's see here for more details on this custom closed_HH 'png' that I have improved : dwsk.proboards.com/thread/2955/drums-notes-cleaned-closed-sizzle
My Phase Shift version has 4 different 'png' for each YELLOW_C-S-O-P but doesn't differentiate YELLOW_S-O (and doesn't differentiate RED and RIM).
Is the Steam version differentiating YELLOW_S / YELLOW_O and RED / RIM ?
Like free Phase Shift, Phase Shift Steam edition does not differentiate YELLOW_S / YELLOW_O and RED / RIM.
I think I have understood why most charters use -R2- method :
- firstly, sizzled hi-hat is rare.
- secondly, it is not possible to use YELLOW_C with a "road panel" notes because the file "Note_Cymbal_Closed.X" is common to all the cymbals (yellow, blue and green). The only way to do that would be to leave "road panel" notes (like I do).

For my future charts, I would prefer to implement -R1- method to :
- keep closed_HH to YELLOW_C (ie. same 'png' as in Drums and Drums Adv mode to have greater coherence).
- rather assign "main" cymbals to GREEN (or BLUE) and rare cymbals to YELLOW_C.
- and keep nuances between sizzled_HH and open_HH using the two YELLOW_S / YELLOW_O for there primary purpose.
Thus my Phase Shift which doesn't differentiate YELLOW_S-O could at least differentiate closed_HH from sizzled/open_HH that is not the case in -R2- method.
To fix this problem that Phase Shift doesn't differentiate YELLOW_S-O, an -R3- method could be to leave "road panel" notes and to use YELLOW_S only for classic cymbals with a purple custom note. I would have loved that charters have leaved "road panel" notes and have used -R3- method (or -R1- method) since the start of Phase Shift...
Apparently, most of charters only used Phase Shift displaying as drums tabs (with a bot player). That's why they don't have the "differentiate YELLOW_S-O" problem.
