Can't Use Song Search Function

Hey there! I'm new to Phase Shift as a whole! I was attracted to this game because of it's inclusion of MIDI drums, and live instruments. I've set my drums up perfectly with a proper MIDI profile, and can play with ease, but I'm having a lot of trouble navigating the menu. I know there's a search function in this game for a particular song or artist, but I'm not quite sure how to use it. I use my GH3 Les Paul guitar to navigate the menu, so I know I have to press the Orange button to bring up the search menu, but from there, I can't seem to successfully search for anything. Am I supposed to click in a particular box, or type something? If so, I have no idea how to do this.

I'm sorry if this seems like a noob issue, because it is. So far I'm loving the functionality of this game, and it functions smooth as butter up until the searching part.
