Hey everyone, I'm new to phase shift but have been charting guitar on FoF for a while. I have a few questions as far as what I can do with this game and the forum but I am not sure if this is the right place to post it. If it's not then this topic can be locked, etc.
First question, since I probably can't post my songs directly on this forum, is it alright to just link to my existing song thread on FoF forums or to my MEGA folder containing my music? In other words, how do I share the charts I've done so far with the Phase Shift community?
Second question, suppose I want to start charting drums. Do I need to make a seperate chart for 4-land vs 5-lane, or does the game automatically convert 5-lane to 4-lane by changing all orange to green, etc.? Also, what is the difference between Adv Drums and Pro Drums?
Thank you for any help or advice.

You are not allowed to post directly to a copyrighted song. You are, however, welcome to link to the [.chart] or [.mid] file. (As far as I know, this even applies to the official Guitar Hero and Rock Band games.)
For the drums, you will have to make a separate four-lane and five-lane file. You are not, however, required to make a separate four-lane and seven-lane drum file. You could make one drum chart file in theory, but the notes for the drums probably won't work properly for the toms/cymbals. You'll have to do some experiments to find the median. Some songs will work better than others.

The unofficial standard for Phase Shift is 7 lane drums. 7 lane will automatically downchart to 5 and 4 lane drums, the main exception being REAL Drums. 7 lane drums give users the most flexibility when it comes to the different types of drums that are out there. These are only guidelines, so please do whatever you want when you chart!

Cool, thanks. How would I chart 7 lanes? I am using EOF and I'm having trouble figuring it out because I'm stuck on 5 lanes. Also, how do you add kick pedal notes, or open bass notes if that's a thing?

The triangles are cymbals. Orange is the kick pedal. If you're using the default color scheme, it's green. You toggle yellow, blue, and green as cymbals by selecting the notes you want to be said cymbals, going to the note menu, drum > toggle (color) cymbal. Or, just select the ones you want to make cymbals, and do Ctrl + Y/B/G for the corresponding color. Green cymbals are automatically set to orange when doing 5 lane drums, so don't worry about making separate charts are previously discussed. For open note bass...

Oh cool, thank so much for the replies everyone! PS is really fun so far and I'd like to port my FoF tracks to this game as a full band so this helps a lot.

When I am making the drums, it is possible to make both expert and expert + difficulties on the same eof file? I want my charts to be good for those who do/don't have two pedals.
EDIT: nvm, I figured it out.

If you select any bass drum notes that you want to be a part of the Expert+ difficulty in EoF and press Ctrl+E, it will make them only appear when playing on Expert+.
EDIT: Well, you figured out, but may as well leave my post here for posterity's sake.

I did run into a different problem though, one I suspect has no solution yet.
I tried to make open bass notes HOPO but it won't work, is there a way around this? The eighth note HOPO function and the force HOPO options won't work, and if there's no solution I'll have to rechart the bass with 5 notes instead of 6.

I've argued my point about this a few times with the devs. They've been responsive about this topic, but it's not an immediate feature they're looking to implement. *gives look to david*

You still can chart them as such, just don't use open hopos. It's really that simple. They're not a huge deal.
Also, apparently, Acala (I don't remember the exact spelling of the name so I may have gotten that wrong) figured out that if you make them sliders, then you can still play them like a pull off, but you can't tell the difference between them when playing in real time. But it's there if you really want it.

The problem is that most of the music I chart is metal, so even the bass parts are very busy and rely on those hopos. It just looks nicer and is less headache to chart bass with 5 notes. I might try that just to see, but I think I should be alright now, thanks!

When I am actually playing the drum track, how does this game handle activating star power? Is it like GH where you hit two drums at the same time, or is it like RB where you have to add fills to activate it? I don't want to export my chart and accidentally prevent the player from passing because they can't activate star power.

But it's there if you really want it. I already knew about that, and used them in my song, " Origin." Thanks for thinking of me, though. Anyway, I seem to recall that David threatened (for some stupid reason) to disable the check for open notes that were also sliders. Though off-topic, this is, I believe, useful information to some. To reiterate though, we do need PO open notes without the aid of sliders. Otherwise, more or less any song from the later Guitar Hero series can't be fully made accurate.
