I've been having this problem on my XP computer for a long time. I can't figure out how to fix it. EDIT: Actually, runing the DirectX Web Installer fixed it for me.

i wonder if its a regional thing as theres some interesting characters going on in that error message, if you can set it to an english character set it would be interesting to know if that fixes it
also post system specs and gamelog contents

IF you could tell me yet, where can i find system specs and gamelog contents, then i could post it here.
The picture in 1st post says that "the program is not responding, and windows is searching for the solution" but later it just close down.

to check spec you hold on to your "windows button" then press the "pause/break" button on your keyboard, then write everything from the "system" section to here

dont press windows + break during gameplay, press those while your on your desktop, then it will show your computers specs, then write down the information under "system" and its not a folder called gamelog, its a text file inside the phase shift folder called GameLog.txt

when u say crashing after 1 sec, is this 1 second from when u see the loading screen, or main menu, do you see any graphics or text at all other than a black screen
if you do get to see something other than a black screen then that should mean its not dx / vc related which is a good sign so please confirm this
crashing soon after launch was generally linked to the machines that couldn't handle the video backgrounds properly, i thought we had this disabled but just incase there are still issues here follow these steps and see if it fixes the issue
Inside the phase shift folder open "\Themes\Default\menu_container.ini" in notepad and remove the following text:
<background> <path>videos\menuvidbg.avi</path> <bg_type>video<\bg_type> </background>
save the file and run the game again
also update your graphics card drivers if you haven't done so for a while

I can't see anything while i open the game. Only black screen. I have updated graphic card drivers yesterday. Edit: i deleted this text - still same annoying black screen. Edit:2 I found game log in My Documents o.O That's the full log

wondering if its having trouble with the standard 1280x720 resolution, what is your graphics card?
might need to manually edit the config to run the game in a different resolution if it can not handle the default
does your phase shift settings folder contain a config.ini?

ATI Mobiliti Radeon HD 4500 Series.
There's no config.ini file in the settings folder.
