idk if he's around often anymore, but ask puppetz from fof-ff to use some of his self-made songs?? he's got a couple that are guitar and drums he made in some studio, really cool sounding IMO that studio ur talking about is called fl studio and i have that so it could make something my self just like he did but they are solo only cant do simple tempos

I'd love to contribute a couple of my own songs. I'll even chart them myself when I have the time. There's only two things that make it kinda iffy, and that's 1) Return of Ktulu is in the works to be put on the Rock Band Network at some point in the future, so I dunno if I should distribute a free version of it when I might be making money off the same song eventually, and 2) Ectoplasm might be kinda hit-and-miss because not everyone is into dubstep.... Let me know what you all think of these tracks though ^^; soundcloud.com/synthony/synthony-return-of-ktulu-finalsoundcloud.com/synthony/ectoplasm-pt-ii-remastered

I've got nothing against dubstep. Just the bandwagon that raids it. ;D

As a musician myself I really don't like dubstep because of the wobble bass that's central to it. It's become mainstream and I really think it shouldn't have, as there was a bit of good stuff before everyone started doing it. But I digress, there's some people who really love it and I can't change that!
Return of Ktulu sounds great, though!
Actually, I might have a few tracks of my own to share, but I'm not exactly sure, since I mostly do cover stuff, but a lot of my stuff is original too...

If somebody likes a Phase Shift bundled song, they might even like to buy the song through Rock Band, although it would probably need to go through an established charting group. Or maybe indie bands could look into going the other direction: Having a charting group create the chart for RBN, with the understanding that the chart will be provided for free use on the PC platform with Phase Shift. Phase Shift could probably be made to promote the RBN chart by having a clickable link to a details/purchase page on Harmonix's/Microsoft's/Sony's website.

I managed to find a site filled with free music under varying licenses (mostly creative commons). A lot of the music I managed to find sucked, but I did manage to find one band in particular that someone could try contacting: www.diabloswing.com/More info about the band can be found on wikipedia.

seems interesting, limited instrument parts for charting but if it could make a good advanced keys chart then it could work

They'll have needed to explicitly give permission for their songs to be used freely.

I wonder if chiptune would have its place in a game like PS... If so, I know a good chiptune band called Greyscale : grayscale.scene.pl/en_index.phpThey share their music freely, but I prefer to ask them if we can use their songs... if someone is interested in charting this ! (I suck at charting ><)

raynebc: I believe that they wouldn't have anything against having their songs in PS. This is their reaction to the one song I tried to chart: . Maybe you only need to ask them for separated audio streams
