Hey man! Just thought I'd give some incite for the engine's leniency. Been a long time Rock Band player, the biggest reason why it brings me back to the game is purely due to the fact it's engine makes you work for your FCs. I would really love to see the future of this game cater more to the hardcore side of things, rather than be in it's current loose state. I feel like for myself, and for many others still drumming in the RB community, they would make the transition over to this game if the engine was comparable to Rock Band 3. Phase Shift is not and does not intend to emulate the engines in Rock Band and Guitar Hero. IMO, Phase Shift is an excellent middle-ground between the two, being tight enough to allow a wide variety of controllers to be used and still allow FCs, and being tight enough that an FC is a sign of skill. It's right in the middle of GH and RB, and that's where it should remain. Expert+ for guitar and bass were experimental forays into tightening up the engine a bit to cater to those who demand the difficulty, but has remained mostly untouched and not discussed in the forums since it was released almost two years ago. I personally mentioned this feature to DWSK to add an additional gimick where HO/POs were required to be HO/PO'd, and not strummed or it would break your streak.

I'am just playing and was thinking about "Co-op revival feature" - so you can revive your mates in case they fail.

really ? - i didn't realize that this feature was included already - I only remember seeing the failed band member having some kind of menu in front of his board - I'll check that out
EDIT:
oh, ok now I see what you mean - but I was thinking about a revival meter like in GH , where you revive you mate/s by just playing well
I know there is Pro and Cons to that revival method but maybe it is somthing to add optional

Curious when there will be updates on how the project is going? Super excited about the steam release and hoping it'll add hype to the game and help out the drum/rhythm gaming community a bit!

going to have support for PRO guitars? the button_data file is not able to identify all the keys on my Wii Fender Mustang for example. the same is for PRO keyboard or the real keys.
and audio channel for other instruments besides guitar, bass, drums and keyboard? will have?
and this time will have a kind of groove for any instrument that reaches the maximum sequence? increasing 25% of the volume would already be optimal.

There is already support for Pro Guitar and Pro Keyboard, it works natively with the 360 controllers. If it's not working with your Wii instruments do what vandorb12 suggested in the other thread and use a usb midi interface.

i would like to suggest syncing settings and profiles to the steam cloud just for backups just in case Not ALL settings should be backed up using Steam Cloud. Graphics and Sync settings should definitely not be backed up, because Steam Cloud sync is designed to be used with more than one computer, and Graphics/Synchronization are very hardware-specific.

I took a look at the wishlist compiled on the first post... it's kinda unwieldy, so I decided to rework it. I took it into Excel, reworded each request, categorized, alphabetized, and ported it to custom BBCode here: Category | Request | Notes | File Formats | Song Formats: .CHART, .SGH, .TGH, .RB3CON | Do this as plugins | File Formats | Support TTF/OTF, SVG, WOFF Fonts | TTF/OTF are priority | Gameplay - Modes | Cooperative Career Mode | Also Online | Gameplay - Modes | Scoring Mode: Note Accuracy | Bemani-style | Gameplay - Modifiers | Breakneck Speed: Pitch Fixing, Separate Highway Speed | | Gameplay - Modifiers | Metronome function | Practice Only? | Gameplay - Modifiers | Mixable Highway Modifiers | e.g. Flat+Upward+Tall | Gameplay - Modifiers | Options for disabling vocal track | | Gameplay - Other | Replays (Especially important for Leaderboards validation) | | Graphics | Animations/Videos as textures/objects | | Instruments - Drums | Freestyle Drums | In what form? Fills for PS Activation? Big Rock Finish? Ignore Chart? | Instruments - Drums | Phase Shift Activation: Guitar Hero style | GH Drums: Yellow+Orange, RB Drums: Yellow Tom + Blue Tom, RB PRO Drums: Yellow Cymbal + Green Cymbal, DM Drums: Pink Crash Cymbal + Blue Crash Cymbal? | Instruments - Guitar | Allow HOPO on Open Strum | What does that look like? | Instruments - Hardware | DJ Hero Controller Support | Mix Mode | Instruments - Hardware | Guitar Hero Live Controller Support: 3-Lane | Black, White, Black+White in each lane | Instruments - Hardware | Vocals Support | | Instruments - PRO Drums | 4-Lane Support | Set this as default option, but allow separated cymbal lanes because of GH and Gitadora | Instruments - REAL Drums | 5/10-Lane Support (5 Toms, 5 Cymbals) | | Instruments - REAL Drums | Additional feature support (Cymbal choking, pad zones) | | Instruments - REAL Drums | Custom "CONTROL_CHANGE" values per-device | | Instruments - REAL Drums | Velocity-based notes (Soft, Accent), Rim Shot Support | | Instruments - REAL Guitar | Map audio to game input based on pitch | | Online | Leaderboards (Requires song validation) | | Online | Song Validation | | Online - Multiplayer | Allow host to kick, require songs to join for play, P2P Track Sharing | P2P Track Sharing is my own request | Online - Multiplayer | General improvements in server log (more concise, more details, etc.) | | Online - Multiplayer | Show Ping/Connection Quality | | Online - Multiplayer | Spectate without having to have the song | Allow "No Audio" and P2P Track Sharing | Online - Multiplayer | Steam Avatars | | Online - Multiplayer | UI Optimization | | Online - Services | Online Service integration (Proposed: Last.fm, Discord, Trello) | I suggest doing this as programmed/scripted plugins, so that other online services can be integrated, such as Twitch Chat or Mixer Interactive for deciding what songs to play next. | Other | Keep it legal | WELL DUH! DWSK doesn't wanna be sued! Does this even need to be here? | Settings | Integrate Keybinding Support into the main program | Both for custom controllers and for keyboard | Settings | Support Multiple Song Source Folders | e.g. "D:\FoF_Songs" for custom USB song support | Songs | Custom Sharable Songs | Similar to GHTunes, right? Also, Steam Workshop? Maybe custom soundfonts for these, too? | Themes | Themes: Any Variable ID in Any Mode | |
I also put some notes to help with understanding the requests, and to ask questions regarding them. In addition, I have a few requests of my own (in addition to the P2P Track Sharing for online multiplayer), which I'm also tabling here. Category | Request | Notes | File Formats | Support Scripted Instrument Audio, Bemani Sim File Formats | Bemani-style instead of Harmonix-style, where notes are played when player triggers instead of just a singular audio track | Gameplay - Menus | Use Menu-Specific Bindings for Keyboard | | Gameplay - Modes | Grading Mode - Bemani Grading: F through AAA, using EX Score or Dance Score | Dance Score factors in combos, EX Score does not | Gameplay - Modes | Scripted Career Story Modes | Bit of a hybrid between GH6, RB, and WWE2K story modes, suggest a Ren'Py-style script format | Graphics | Multiple Monitors = Multiple Windows | If possible, perhaps all windows could pull from the same OGL viewport | Instruments - ADV Drums | Support 9-Lane Drums, Pedals on Individual Lanes | DrumMania | Instruments - Drums | Support User Customization of Lane Order | Differences between GH/RB/DM Lanes, or using gamepads | Instruments - Guitar | Support 3-Lane Guitar, RGBYP Guitar Lane Colors | Guitar Freaks | Instruments - Hardware | Support 5-Key and 7-Key beatmania Controllers | PS1 Digital beatmania Controller, PS2 Digital beatmania IIDX Controller, PC USB beatmania Infinitas Controller | Instruments - Hardware | Support PS1 Guitar Freaks and DrumMania Controllers | | Instruments - Hardware | Support Sound Voltex (SDVX) Controller | PC USB Sound Voltex III eAmusement Cloud Controller (6 Keys, 2 Dials, Start Button); Sound Voltex uses an angled highway | Instruments - Vocal | Option to Require Accurate (Speech-to-Text) Lyrics, Option for Alternate Lyrics | Alternate Lyrics such as Weird Al parodies (Jerry Springer instead of One Week, for example) | Online - Steamworks | Reward Free Version Achievements as Steam Achievements | | Other - Hardware | Steam Input support | Primarily for Steam Controller in menus, but could also be useful for controls in other ways, such as otherwise-incompatible instruments or even Steam Controller as ADV Drums | Other - Release | Final Freeware Release | Same songs as 1.27, but with feature improvements and bugfixes Alternatively, make Phase Shift on Steam free without songs, charge for songs as DLC. | Other - Release | Microsoft Store Release | Desktop, Mobile, HoloLens, Team, Xbox device families, but requires D3D11+ | Settings - Sync | Per-Device Synchronization | For players (like me) who play on different monitors and speakers, as well as TVs, at different times |
I'm attaching my Excel workbook that I used to make these tables. Hopefully this post will be of use to you guys.

Hi guys, I have a few questions. - Will be the theme system changed a lot? If yes, what would happen to the current custom themes (especially the 'cloned' ones like GH/RB)? If I want to create GH Live theme, would this be illegal? - Will be the 'controllers api' affected somehow. I mean dinput, xinput, gamepad profiles, midi link and midi profiles.
Thanks for your time, dj

If I want to create GH Live theme, would this be illegal? - Will be the 'controllers api' affected somehow. I mean dinput, xinput, gamepad profiles, midi link and midi profiles. Thanks for your time, dj From a purely legal point of view, making clone themes using ripped assets (or even assets you create that are just that close to the originals*) are already illegal, and it won't suddenly become MORE illegal for a commercial version of Phase Shift. That said, even Western companies aren't all that concerned about this specific kind of infringement and that's why they haven't gone after theme makers. (No clue as to why they don't take on song rippers though.) As for the technical aspects, I wouldn't have any actual knowledge, but I'd suspect themes would be compatible with only small changes being necessary. At the very least, your pre-existing assets would still be usable. The control system is unlikely to have any breaking changes, simply because it already works just fine. The only changes I foresee DWSK doing would be adding in explicit support for previously-unsupported or unsupportable controllers, such as GHL controllers somewhere along the line during Early Access, or Rock Band 4 wireless controllers at EA release. *There are people that believe that if you create the assets, that makes it legal to copy the look of an existing game. No. That's like saying that if you copied The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by hand and distributed copies of that, it would be legal. It just doesn't hold water.

@texbor - great tables with requests. It looks like you missed some of my earlier requests and I came up with a couple more, may you consider them? - native Linux version - in-game setup and mapping of unknown controllers. - listing all songs without folders structure (it may be optional view though) and instead make an all in one list with some sort features: - automate tiering of song difficulties (with some funny tier names, based on an average song difficulty) - sort songs by source (game, song pack, etc, could be also with game name in the tier like style) - maybe enable double sorting (for example - by source, then by difficulty, by artist, then by difficulty, by artist, then by game, etc. It would be very helpful with navigating through huge libraries) I hope this arent labor-intensive requests because I believe they can be very helpful for a lot of people. All of them despite Linux version, which isn't even so important now with steam play.

I'll put another reply down below with a fully integrated request list.

I put up a couple of tables earlier relisting all the requests I could find in this thread for Phase Shift, and a few of my own requests. A comment about it later, and I decided to consolidate my two tables and put in a few more requests while I was at it. I also did a bit of additional formatting that would hopefully help with this. (And again, I added in a request or two AFTER posting this version.) { Request List Table} Category | Request | Notes | File Formats | Song Formats: .CHART, .SGH, .TGH, .RB3CON | Do this as plugins | File Formats | Support Scripted Instrument Audio, Bemani Sim File Formats | Bemani-style instead of Harmonix-style: Notes are played when player triggers instead of On/Off of a single instrument track | File Formats | Support TTF/OTF, SVG, WOFF Fonts | TTF/OTF are priority | Gameplay | Drop-In Drop-Out Multiplayer | Local definitely. Online maybe? Styled after Rock Band 3 | Gameplay | Guitar Hero-Style Co-Op Revival |
| Gameplay | Replays | Especially important for Leaderboards validation | Gameplay - Modes | Cooperative Career Mode | Offline and Online | Gameplay - Modes | Grading Mode - Bemani Grading: F through AAA, using EX Score or Dance Score | Dance Score factors in combos, EX Score does not | Gameplay - Modes | Party Mode | Random songs and/or playlist, with anytime DIDO multiplayer | Gameplay - Modes | Scoring Mode: Note Accuracy | Bemani-style (Perfect/Great/Good/Poor/Miss) | Gameplay - Modes | Scripted Career Story Modes | Bit of a hybrid between GH6, RB, and WWE2K story modes, suggest a Ren'Py-style script format | Gameplay - Modifiers | Breakneck Speed: Pitch Fixing, Separate Highway Speed | | Gameplay - Modifiers | Metronome function | Practice Only? | Gameplay - Modifiers | Mixable Highway Modifiers | e.g. Flat+Upward+Tall for Guitar Freaks, Flat+Tall for DrumMania | Gameplay - Modifiers | Options for disabling vocal track | Karaoke Mode? | Gameplay - Modifiers | Vivid Notes | Timing-based colors instead of control-based (like DDR); Primarily for Dance, but should be available for all | Graphics | Animations/Videos as textures/objects | Example: Rock Band 4 animated note textures | Graphics | Multiple Monitors = Multiple Windows | If possible, perhaps all windows could pull from the same OGL viewport | Instruments | Support Multi-Note Lanes | Rock Band, Guitar Hero Live | Instruments - Dance | Support Multiple Dance Games | Pump It Up (5), Dance Dance Revolution Solo (4/6), Dance Maniax (4), Ez2Dancer (5/7), Pop'n'Dance (5/6) | Instruments - Drums | Freestyle Drums | In what form? Ignore Chart? | Instruments - Drums | Phase Shift Activation: Guitar Hero style | GH Drums: Yellow+Orange, RB Drums: Yellow Tom + Blue Tom, RB PRO Drums: Yellow Cymbal + Green Cymbal, DMXG Drums: Pink Crash Cymbal + Blue Crash Cymbal?
