It could probably sound horrible if all the musicians performing a song together were playing in a different key.

I'm sure there are some songs out there with instruments in different keys.

Hi, folks.
The 40th beta release is now out, and there's finally been more than enough changes now that a finalized 1.8 release should be made. If possible, please test out everything you can think of to look for bugs, especially the new features, and report any problems you encounter. Also check the documentation to see if there are any mistakes or parts that can be improved or elaborated on.
Once I've fixed all bugs that have been discovered, I'll post a release candidate, and as long as no new, large bugs are found, it will become the 1.8 final release. When this happens, I'll begin working on pro keys authoring support.

"*Adds initial Guitar Pro import functionality. At this point, the logic allows for one track of a Guitar Pro file to replace the currently-active pro guitar track. Optionally, the time signatures from the Guitar Pro file can be applied to the active project if the tempo map isn't locked." Yay! I am a Guitar Pro 5 user. This feature will be quite awesome for me since I am a tabber.

Not all the vocal notes get loaded when importing a GH chart file. It seems to cut off when I go past an event flag that has the word 'out' in it. Also, any notes that I've selected get deselected when I press and release the SHIFT key. Has the shortcut for marking slider notes been working for you?

Thanks, I've fixed the last two bugs you mentioned. Could you PM me a link to get the GH file so I could test it?

I don't know if EoF supports European characters yet, but when I import a GH chart file containing one, it converts a sung note into a spoken one. "na-ïve" Not to mention I can't type said character in it.

I don't know if the font EOF uses supports Unicode, but much of the strings handled internally are treated as Unicode. The lyric import probably doesn't support it, but I don't have any foreign GH files to test with. The ^ character itself is problematic because Harmonix uses that as a "talky" indicator in RB lyrics, so EOF has been coded to identify talky lyrics.

Unfortunately, it does not support unicode. I've charted a Hungarian song and none of the "special" characters worked.

We'll see what NewCreature says about it. It's having problems with even extended ASCII characters, so I'm not sure what that's all about.

Are you going to be exporting unicode to the MIDI? You would need some kind of marker to state this if you were. as they would need 2 bytes per charater.
Thanks David

He indicated that it's an encoding issue regarding extended ASCII characters. I'll try to get it fixed up, but for now, this example doesn't require us to worry about Unicode.
