A MIDI parser certainly isn't the easiest thing to write, but if you have trouble, there should be at least a couple of us here that are pretty knowledgeable about it.

The note files that the GH5 engine uses are not MIDI files, but are closer to what a Feedback chart is like. This sure is a jump from writing a simple accounting program in Java =/

I did a bit of work over the past week, not really coding, but more on the side of figuring out how the program should work. This same document is on the TrueGHMIDI Google Code site under the downloads section. Attachments:

Awssum possum! Can't wait for this dude.
I have a program that was never completed by some dude who mysteriously appeared and then mysteriously disappeared at fofff.net. He was trying to create a qbngc2midi program(when GHWT came out). I still have that program with me. I'm sure you can decompile it & perhaps it will give you a nice boost....idk... Would you like to check it out?

Sure. Assuming the naming nomenclature, it's coded in Java?

Not that I am aware of. Its command prompt program last time I checked.
qbngc2midi *.ngc > outputs midi.

I was thinking that maybe it would be better for EOF to add support for importing the chart rather than you having to create a whole new program. You seem to have done a good job working out the format and I'd think creating an importer in EOF should much simpler and better all round. The MIDI passer is a pain to get working. Maybe you could work with Raynebc to get this working as his MIDI paser is pretty good.
Thanks David

With what you have now, wouldn't you need to convert some code for a different programming language first?

David and oddbrother I've been contemplating this. The MIDI parser is the hardest part. I don't think I'm far enough with programming to do such things yet. =P I'll give ray a message sometime soon. A bit of a fun fact, the GH5 notation is extremely similar to scorehero notation. I'm sure it won't be too much of a problem.

Just drop me a message with the specifics, we might be able to get it worked out.
