As the title says my game freezes randomly for a few seconds before either going back to normal or just crashing the graphics driver. Didn't happen before on my old video card which was a GTX 680

i'd try a complete uninstall/reinstall of the driver first. if that doesn't do it, uninstall/reinstall the game.

I've done those before and the problem still persists.

Can you post your game_log.txt file located in your games root directory. You might also want to try the new beta too to see if that helps. phase_shift_1.27e_beta.zipThanks David

game_log.txt (37.69 KB) I just played a song with the beta exe and experienced the same freeze that stutters the note playback.

Unrelated to the current issue the beta exe fixed one of my old issues where massively charted songs like Cassandra Gemini crashed before loading. It actually loaded without crashing so that's a plus.

How long did you play the song for when that log was generated? Can you play a song in full and then close the game down after and send that log? Could you pm me the Cassandra Gemini chart that was giving you issues before and I'll see what was happening.
Thanks David

I think it should have been the full song 6ish~ minutes. Just played a song and when there was a minute left the stuttering happened. game_log.txt (39.58 KB)

It seems that Windows is reporting a controller device change to the game and as a result the game is checking to see what happened. Do you have a dodgy cable on a controller or something?
Do you hear the Windows connect and disconnect sounds during gameplay?
Thanks David

I don't hear the connect and disconnect sound during gameplay. My guitar controller is wireless and I play drums with my PS3 Midi pro adapter. I've been doing stuff with my guitar since it's easier to test quickly.

Could you try disabling USB Selective Suspend and see if that helps? I'm assuming you're using Windows 10?? Display Settings > Power & sleep > Additional power settings > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings Then under 'USB settings', under "USB selective suspend setting' set it to 'Disabled'. Also how often does it stutter and how often does it crash? When it crashes what exact error are you getting? Edit: Try this app to see what is causing the device event. Make sure you enable Device Notifications in this app. www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/Plug-and-Play-Monitor.shtmlThanks David

Windows 10 yeah, I'll try that out. It stutters more often than crashing and it usually is at least a few times every few songs. And when it crashes it gives me Direct3D device error. Though I was tasting it last night and it took 9 minutes for cassandra gemini to load but it played it fine and a lot of other songs I had too.

I've changed the device detection code to be more specific about which devices can cause a rescan of controllers and MIDI devices. If you can test this one and see how you get on. phase_shift_1.27g_beta.zipThanks David
