I have been making songs for phaseshift for a while now. What I actually like to do is make the song and then play it on real drums (kinda like scrolling sheet music or tabs)
I use the guitar hero colors/set up (5-lane drums) because that's what I'm used to, I never use the rock band version.
Heres my problem: on simple songs, the 5lane amazing charts work fine because a yellow means hihat, red means snare and so on. But on certain songs, like Avenged Sevenfold -Blinded by Chains, orange needs to mean heavy crash, splash and ride and I really dont have a way to differentiate them. The same issue applies to open hihats vs sizzle, ghost snare versus regular vs heavy vs rimtap, etc.
The obvious advice here is, use the real drums ya goof and you can get all that detail. The problem with real drums charts is that the colors are not what I'm used to (I am very proficient with the guitar hero colors, and my brain just wont recognize the slight size difference of a blue circle to mean a tom or a cymbal.) I need the cymbals to be yellow/orange... or really, any other color than what the toms are.
So my question is, is there a way to add the detail of rimtap/ghost, open hat/sizzle/closed, heavycrash/lighsplash/ride, etc. to the regular 5lane charts? Or is there a way to change the colors of the lanes of the realdrums charts? Either of these solutions would get me a lot closer to my goal of getting the detail I really want.
(For the record, I've been doing things like... using star power on a single yellow to differentiate a crash from a hihat, or a star power on a single orange to mean a heavy crash vs a string of ride taps. This works... ok... but on long songs or songs that require a lot of this, the game glitches and starts doing all sorts of odd things (like making green notes orange, or removing all star power totally after a certain point)
This might be a super obvious thing but I just cant figure out what to do, sorry if it is.
