Hey everyone, I am actually playing adv drums with my Roland Td4 and there a little problem with my Hihat: when I press the HiHat pedal it is recognized as a kick note, How can I deactivate that ?

You must play in Real mode to have Hi-Hat Support. If the chart doesn't support Real mode then you'll need to duplicate the Advanced Drums to Real from in EOF.
Thanks David

Ok, I understand but what I am asking is if I can deactivate the Hi-Hat pedal in phase shift for exemple because I am trying to play with the sound going to my drum module and then to my ears, so I can hear the music and my drum sound.

You can disable freestyle sounds by going to the Options Menu then Audio Options then Freestyle SFX.
Thanks David

Hello. I'm going to bring this topic back, because there was no actual answer to the question, and I am experiencing the same problem with my kit (Millenium MPS-750)
The problem is the following: When you press the hi-hat pedal, the game registers it as a kick. Even in the case of Drums or Drums Adv (Drums Real), you would want this setting to be turned off or on The reason you would want that is when you have Drum Play Along enabled, so you can switch from open hi-hat to closed hi-hat on what you hear, and won't register a kick.
Ideally you would have this setting when you select the song (so you can switch to "double bass" using the hi-hat pedal in certain situations)
Questions: 1. Is this feature available in the new release? (the one that will be available on Steam) 2. Can this be turned off or on somewhere in the game files? (in-game I haven't found any setting) 3. Is there are way to control this using the kit? (not necessarily mine, but any e-kit, as a general config)
Thank you

Have to edit your midi profile map. Mine below is for a TD-25 and should work for a TD4 too.
Here is how you would map it if you wanted double kick on the foot splash, you may get a lot of false hits though, mess with the cross talk on the HH trigger to make sure the 'cymbals' dont throw out 'hits' when you don't want them. depends on what you're using though, if you have a CY-5 and the foot thing you may be fine but if you have a VH-11 you'll get multiple hits.

Thank you for your quick reply! Maybe this will work for Roland TD-24/TD4, so thanks for helping people with those devices.
Unfortunately, that config didn't work for me, the kick is still triggered when I press the hi-hat pedal.
Any other idea what I can do to my setup?
P.S.: I like the idea of mapping the open hi-hat to the blue cymbal, so it's in the same "category" as the ride. Is this standard (from the point of view of the charting)? Because I usually leave it to my ear to decide when a yellow note is open hi-hat or closed.

Look for <BASS>XX,X,0</BASS> in your profile. likely it's mapped multiple times and one of those extra maps is triggering it. midi note 36 is the only default kick midi event for roland that i'm aware of. sounds like you've got ... depends does bass trigger as you move the HH pedal or just when you stomp on it which would otherwise be a HH splash? if bass triggers as you move through the range then somewhere you should find <BASS>4,9,0</BASS> as that would be triggering off the CC#4 channel. If its just splash then (presuming default roland mapping) <BASS>42,9,0</BASS> should read <YELLOW>42,9,0</YELLOW>
i came up with mapping open bow midi note 46 to blue (maybe someone did b4 me idk). just seemed a logical way to get close to a 'real' 'hi hat bark' as most non real mode songs chart the 'bark' as blue instead of yellow. or w/e you want to call it while still retaining play-ability throughout the range on the HH edge. it is still limited as any proper shuffle pattern has you transitioning between bow/edge and opening/closing the pedal itself. this was the best compromise I could find. I've asked the devs to try and implement the 'disco flip' to blue based on CC#4 position and have it user customizable. Meaning, I'd prefer to have yellow all the time unless i open the hat > 75%, at 76% open it flips to blue. not sure if it will be possible but it'd be nice. with my setup, you really have to make sure the pedal is all the way closed otherwise it will still send blue notes for the bow - not perfect but ok-ish for now.
it can be confusing in some charts but i can't think of a better way to do it at present. just have to know the song and make make adjustments on the fly.

I used the Generic Midi Drums setup, so BASS was only mapped to 36,9,0. On my drums, the splash is 23 (mapped to yellow), and the hi-hat control is 44 (not mapped), but the bass was still triggered after receiving those inputs.
But after fiddling around the config file, I did eventually SOLVE the problem! The only modification I did was to change METHOD from 3 to 4
(although I don't know why it worked after that, I just randomly changed some values - also tried changing the TYPE before this, maybe someone can explain what that value does?)

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'll make two input devices, one with 46 as yellow, and another one as blue, see which one works best.

Would it not also work or be easier to go into your drum module and edit the midi note that's output by your hit hat control? I haven't tried doing this yet, and I have an Alesis DM10 instead of a Roland but it should work in theory assuming you can remap the output in your drum module.

I did try that, the hi-hat control midi is 44, but 44 wasn't mapped to anything. I also tried disabling it completely from the midi module, still didn't work, the game somehow detects it separately. Like I said in the previous post, maybe someone can shed some light on the subject if they know what does the METHOD tag actually do?

the method tag is used to select between a few different standards different hardware uses, just pick the one that is correct for your hardware, we'll be looking into making this easier to setup in the steam version improvements

I just bought the steam version of the game, but I don't see how you can modify that in-game.

hi, the steam version doesn't use the same input system these are just standard options within the midilink bind menu now, we have two pre made profiles or if you are making a custom profile the hihat option is there in an easier to understand form rather than needing to adjust raw text

Hey man, do you think this is the same for the TD-1 DMK ? I have trouble setting it up correctly for the Real Drums mode and play lefty haha, i need help for this. I'm having so much fun in advanced mode but i'm trying out the real drum mode and i still get Hi-hat errors
