First I want to say that the current ability to add video to play in background is awesome, but I have one problem with it - .avi requirment. Well, that format isnt bad when it comes to quality but its quite heavy and that makes sharing those files a lot harder.
So how about adding more video formats support? Like .mp4 or .flv, both give nice quality to weight ratio and there are many programs that can create such files or convert other to this format.

AVI is a container format, you can use all sorts of different codecs for the video stream, that's what affects the video's quality, filesize, etc.

Glad I found this thread, I was also going to suggest native support for MP4 video files. I'll give the .mp4 to .avi but I tend to think even if that works on some things it will mostly have to do with how the video was originally encoded. MP4/h264 support would certainly be a great addition. Although I realize that's a purely cosmetic feature and wouldn't be high priority against gameplay options seems like it would be a fairly easy feature to add in though, but I really don't know. *update* Well it seems the renaming mp4 to avi will actually work, but only if you have a third party codec pack installed (KLite codec pack). Issue I'm having now is that the videos set in the "song.ini" file don't seem to have any effect. The video setting in the main options will change the videos, but it's like the song ini file has no say in it. lol
